I have a friend who is on the prowl for the perfect dress to celebrate her birthday in mid-August and I have found some options. Knowing her the way that I do, I think that she will gravitate towards something girly, flirty and doesn't cost a lot of money. (A woman after my own heart, I tell you!)
Arden B chiffon ruffle halter dress $78
BCBGeneration printed one shoulder dress $118
Windsor olive green colorblock dress $64.90
French Connection Flash cotton dress $119.99 (on sale!)
Forever 21 Hawaiian floral trim dress $22.80
Windsor printed stretch satin dress $64.90
BCBGeneration asymmetrical mixed print dress $118
French Connection Georgia dress $168

I am not normally a fan of Victoria Beckham's, I think that her look is normally too severe, too many angles. Yet I am enamored with this look that I saw earlier in the week of her at the London airport. Her white high waist wide leg pants paired with the dove grey and black polka dot blouse is uber-chic and best of all, fluid. See what happens when you soften things up, Vicki?

I adore the styling from these looks at J. Crew's Fall line. The unexpected layering of textures and colors combined with the ladylike vintage feel is exciting to me. I can't wait to receive my catalog for more style ideas!

My favorite look. The femininity of the jacquard skirt and the casualness of the chambray shirt makes me swoon. I have been finding great skinny belts similar to these at thrift stores for cheap so I am ready to "cinch it" for Fall.

The Sartorialist book! Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist has a coffee table book debuting in September 2009. (I read in Marie Claire that it is actually August but his site said September and he should know!) Penguin books is also releasing a special paperback edition at the request of Shuman so that all readers can afford a copy. Compassionate, cute and talented, wow. But of course I want the hard cover to salivate over 500 pages of sartorial glory.

I take a lot of things for granted so I assume that all fashionistas are familiar with the notion of nipple covers until I had this conversation with my little sis:
Her: WHAT are those?!?!
(Full disclosure, they were on my mom's living room table.)
Me: Nipple covers. (Thinking: Duh!)
Her: Huh? For what?
Me: So instead of me having to wear a strapless bra , I can pop these bad boys on. Or if I don't want my nipples to show through my bra, I will put these on first.
*Sidebar* I have a plethora of dresses with built in bras, I am in NO WAY condoning letting your girls hang low and thinking that because you have on nipple covers that this is okay behavior. Unless they are oh so perky and you got it like that.
Back to conversation:
Her: Well, why are they so.....rubbery?
Me: Because they are reusable and silicone.
Her: Oh.....COOOOOL! Where did you get these?
Me: Tar-jhay
Her: Huh?
Me: You obviously didn't take French in school, it's Target.
Her: Whatevs.....(insert eye rolling here)
I also use breast petals but sometimes I think that the outline shows thru the fabric so I stick to the silicone. Plus the silicone ones are reusable up to 100 times.
You can find the Lingerie Solutions brand at Walmart and Target and most department stores carry other brands as well.

Vince Camuto "Dita" sandals $134.99 @ Heels.com
My heart skipped a beat when I saw these Vince Camuto platform wedges, the wood offsets the metallic tone and makes these the perfect combination of dressy/casual!
Maxwell's much anticipated (by me!) new cd BLACKsummers' night will be available Tuesday, July 7th for $11.99 @ Amazon.com. (cd/dvd deluxe edition) I am not going to be able to sleep tonight!
J. Crew Dulce skirt $450 (Sold out) I love how this is styled
I have been on the hunt for a sequined or metallic pencil skirt to pair with a fitted tank and thong flats or a simple white button down shirt and platforms. I don't want to spend a lot on this because it's such a whimsical purchase so I have been scouring thrift stores in their evening wear section. I thought I found the perfect black one but alas, it was not my size and YES I did try it on anyway hoping against hope that it would fit, but........it didn't. The search continues.
Vintage sequined skirt $125 from seller NikitaJade @ Etsy
Aquilano Rimondi sequined skirt $1,350 @ Bergdorf Goodman
Spiegel Signature cashmere sequined collection skirt $99 (on sale!) @ Spiegel

Lovely eye candy from a new site I discovered, SundayBrunchDress.com. I adore the lovely details from each designer frock and they only sell dresses, my favorite items of clothing! (In addition to pants, tops, coats, etc, etc!)

Their shoe game is always fashionable and the prices are budget friendly!
Wish they had these in my size......
I had eyed these online at Endless and DSW.com
Have I been under a rock because I didn't know that Paris Hilton had a shoe line? (Or maybe I just heard the name 'Paris Hilton' and tuned the rest out.) These are actually cute.
And they have layaway!
