Well the first week of school was last week and I would give it a solid B. I enjoy my team and my students this year are pretty good (so far) but I have some other grades that I would like to give out....
Jacket: Target (Girls Dept.)
Dress (dyed yellow, it used to be white): Banana Republic
Bracelets: Various
Bag: Prada
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Parents. Yes, you. Come here. I am not going to talk to y'all anymore about these kids names. Y'all play too much and you make people have to discuss your kids' names on their blogs. Y'all are MAKING me do this. Please stop naming your kids these adjectives because usually they do not fit. Beautiful is merely okay, we do not find Adorable charming, and little Sincere turns out to be a non-truth teller. I believe in the power of speaking things into existence but I think y'all are being hopeful that these kids grow into their names. Majesty, A'Miracle, Magnificent? What happened to names like John, Leon, or Sandra? Or what about Kameron, Kelby or Brooklyn if you want to be different? (I love those names so I'm biased.) Y'all's grade is a C (it should really be a D but I think that these are better than last year's names because at least I can pronounce them so I bumped it up.)
One of my students that the teachers said that I would have problems with has been great for me thus far, it's the other students in this particular class who have already been trying it. He asked me last week if I was a model. Grade: A+

Your blog makes me laugh. My daughter just started kindergarten (straight from home) and I was traumitized by some of the names and the behaviors. I don't understand how all educators are not raging alcoholics. Heck I wanted to start drinking and I was only at the school for a total of 30 minutes.
You are so funny! What grade do you teach? I have a name that you never heard before, get ready for this.....Japanica! Her mother named her that because she always wanted to go to Japan. This is what I have to say about that...get a job...so you can purchase a passport and travel because that wondering, cock eye'd little girl reminds me nothing of Japan...IJS
Keep sharing I enjoy you and must confess I have copied a few of your styles! The yellow is GORGEOUS!!!
Congrats to making it through the first week! I love the bold colors of this look! Was dying the dress a DIY?
You look gorgeous! Love these bright colors! And heck yes, sounds like a great kid :) And you do look like a model/ARE I've seen it first hand, so clearly he is a smart kid :)
Love this look doll
Lol LadyRuss you almost made me spit out my vitamin water!
I teach 6th grade btw....
I am cracking up over these names! I used to teach in schools where parents gave their kids imaginary names like those...now most names that are hard to pronounce are surnames of kids whose families weren't born in America. Our kids just came back today...it was a productive and pretty non-eventful day,,,praying the same for the rest of the week!
You are so funny!! Love that polka dot jacket!
lol.. I work as a school admin and I know what you are talking about..talk about kids with 6 names that are as along as a sentence...n.. wait till you see parent their emails...whackysexydragon etc..
Oh my dear dear Juanette, bless your tender heart for remaining in the honored profession of teaching. In my first teaching job, which was a lockdown facility for boys 15-25, I came to know a boy whose mama named him Korvasier (yup like the drink!) but of course spelled "creatively".
Great look Hun!! Yellow & pink yes yes yes!!
Thank you ladies and yes Tammie, dyeing the dress was a DIY, I did a blog post on it somewhere.
I don't think I'd last as a teacher, the first time I encountered one of those names, I'd die. LOL.
You look amazing! I love the color.
I love this post. Quite amusing. I can't wait to read more of your school tales. That dress is adorable :)
Lol, the name thing is too true! My 2 are in 6th grade. They have heard me ranting about classmates' names for years. They gotta apply for jobs one day with those names...
Love the outfit! The yellow is stunning on you!
You are a friend in my head! As an English teacher of 22 years, I can relate to most of your posts. You never fail to bring a smile to my face and I thank God for creating teachers like you who embrace fabulosity with a vengeance. You look great!
you are great with words. I’m sure you worked really hard on this article, and it shows. I agree with a lot of your material. I enjoyed this and I will be back for more.
