In The Fashionista's Closet: Kriss Kross

Remember the rap duo, Kriss Kross known for wearing their clothes backwards in the early 90's? Yeah that's me (and the kid from Reed Between the Lines, he always wears his jeans inside out.) I wore this cardigan look for the first time when I was in Houston, here are a couple of pics that were taken then:

Me with Reiko's little fashionista stepdaughter (she says that she's not stylish but she will definitely give her opinion on what she doesn't like, lol!)

Cardigan (Worn Backwards): Forever 21
Clutch: DSW
Pants: Diane vonFurstenburg
Shoes: Michael Kors

Me with my ace, God's Favorite Shoes.

I wore the look again when I ventured out to the Dallas Museum of Art with a couple of friends to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art. It was surreal, a little creepy and....breathtaking. I literally gasped when I went into the last room of the exhibition.

No photographs were allowed and they were watching us like hawks to make sure that we didn't take any either. The jewelry that they used to style the looks was Ba-na-nas *in Rachel Zoe voice.*
I wanted to cry at the fact that I couldn't take pics, it was so inspiring.

BUT I couldn't have taken pics even if I wanted to because when it was time for me to take these pics, my camera battery was...dead. Thanks to Bethany for doing me a solid and using her camera phone to take my photos.

Conversation with a friend about my cardi:

Him: Is your sweater on backwards?
Me: Yep.
Him: You did that on purpose?
Me: Yeah. You don't like it?
Him: It's definitely....different....it's you.
Me: Ummm hmmm.
Him: Can guys do that or is this just for women?
Me: I don't want ANY dude doing this...
Him: 'Cept maybe Kanye.
Me: LOL! Yeah Kanye can rock it....

Earrings: Aldo
Jeans: Mango
Clutch: Rummage Sale
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Waleo

If you have a minute, check out the video of JPG at the DMA. The exhibition, "From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk" runs until February 12, 2012.

In The Fashionista's Closet: From Chic to Bushed

Yes yes, I know, I've been wearing my chains and this bag like they're going out of style, I just love them both so! I'll switch it up soon, I pinky swear.

People were asking me about my necklace at the Dallas Chic Festival event and I know I've said it before but it's actually three items. One vintage pendant necklace (I doubled it), a jeans belt (see similar here) and a chain belt (see similar here) that I've doubled. I'm a firm believer that you don't have use things for their intended purposes, wear a necklace as a bracelet, a dress as a top or turn your dress backwards. Be Nike, just do it!

Tank: Target
Isaac Mizrahi for Target Skirt: Thrifted
Bag: Vintage

I.heart.these.shoes. They are one of my highest heels but the platform makes them comfy and I wore them all day with no issues. Here's a closer look here:

OMG this limontini at Neo in Victory Park was super delicious! It was a like a slurpee (but with alcohol!)

Required reading? My friend is reading this book, she whipped it out at lunch and I got sidetracked by my pizza and tasty adult beverage that I didn't get an opportunity to really examine it. Sounds wicked, doesn't it?

Busy Saturdays makes for one tired girl but I had a fun fun day!

The Fab and the Stylish at Dallas Chic Festival

I attended the Dallas Chic Festival on Saturday and it was such a pleasure to meet some beautiful and stylish ladies! Chastity of The Curvy Girl's Guide to Style spoke at the event and there was also a fashion show and drawings for gift baskets and one of my girlfriends won one!

Me with the woman of the hour Chastity! We have a mutual admiration for full skirts.
(My outfit post coming later...)

Isn't she the cutest?!? Love these earrings? She's the designer! Check out earring designs from Ayo Design Studio HERE.

I loved every.single.part of this display and Yvonne's designs!

She was such a cool chick, ultra cool artsy vibe and super nice!

Check out her Etsy shop HERE

 Isn't she talented?!?

I corralled a photo with this attendee because I loved her style. That hat! Phenomenal! I was even peeping out her hair underneath the hat. Cute! Natural short bronze hue underneath....Definitely not easing my itch to cut my hair.

DID YOU HEAR??? It's coming!

After months of speculation it has been confirmed that yes indeed H&M is coming to DALLAS! The clothing gods are smiling upon me. I have already decided that yes I will camp out, take a day off, sell my firstborn (ok, I have no firstborn but maybe my nephew will do) but I WILL BE THERE for the opening. I may even try and work there but I'm gonna be all up in that mix, do you hear me?!?!

Why do I love H&M? Besides being ultra chic and affordable please see current and past H&M offerings below:

And here's a sneak peek of the Lanvin for H&M collection which hits stores November 20th.

Excerpts from an article from The Dallas Morning News:

'The Swedish fast-fashion retailer plans to open a 24,000-square-foot store at NorthPark in the second half of 2011.'

And apparently there's plans for more: 'It's likely that NorthPark won't be the only store H&M opens in Dallas over the next few years. It has about 200 stores in the U.S., including 10 in both Manhattan and Chicago, five in Atlanta and three in St. Louis.'

I'm going to start an H&M fund but I still want to visit one before the opening of the Dallas store. The end of 2011 is a looong time to be without H&M, lol.

This will be H&M's first Texas location.

Are you as excited as I am????
