The New York Times: Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of

After my People/Bic For Her photo shoot I had the opportunity to meet up with Audrey of Miss Moon's Musings for some tasty adult beverages, great conversation and lots of laughs. Audrey and I met in person during my last visit to NYC so I was excited to see her again. And when I tell you Audrey gives good voice, I mean it! She has the BEST voice, it's all soothing and seductive and stuff. And her stories about her job literally had me in tears. #TeamAudrey #BrooklynInTheHouse

DFW Blogger Meetup: The Body Shop

I think of this event as a continuation of our DFW Blogger Meetup from two weeks ago, besides our visit to West Village, Elissa from Dress With Courage set up a visit for us at The Body Shop in Northpark Mall.

They were kind enough to gift us with goody bags and coupons and allowed us to invade their space with squeals, lots of hugs and our cameras.
(I stole this pic from Jessica at Splendiferous Inclinations)

One of the highlights? Catered by Chick-Fil-A! I wanted to put some chicken minis in my purse for later but yall know I forgot I'm a lady so I didn't.
(I stole this pic from Elissa)
I spun the wheel and won a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich so I was a happy camper.

I had never been to The Body Shop before and was pleasantly surprised that they are such a socially conscious company and that their ingredients are all natural. They also have a campaign to Stop Sex Trafficking, I signed the petition and you can participate here.

Chastity from The Curvy Girl's Guide to Style talked about the bronzer that she has from The Body Shop on Twitter and because I'm out of bronzer, I was excited to try it out.

After some waiting and confusion I was put into the capable hands of Keeks (I don't know if this is how she spells it, I'm guessing) and she told me that she was all about the bronzer because she's from Jersey.
While I had visions of (unfortunately) looking like Snookie, Keeks was hooking me up and did a phenomenal job! I am happy to announce that I am now the proud owner of the Baked to Last bronzer and Baked to Last blush. The blush and bronzer add definition and a touch of color to my cheeks and I am so excited about my semi-new look.

Here is Reiko's comment to my post below regarding my nosy co-worker:

*sigh*
Dear Fashionnette-work readers:
Please excuse my dear friend Juanette. Sometimes she gets like this and there's no stopping her. I apologize if she caught you off guard. She does that to me daily. DAILY! Most times she is okay...but she probably ran out of candy. This is what happens when she runs out of candy.

I'm sorry. I will keep her under control as best I can although we live in different cities.

Thank you,

Reiko

JuaNETTE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop it!

Gotta love it....

The Fab and the Stylish at Dallas Chic Festival

I attended the Dallas Chic Festival on Saturday and it was such a pleasure to meet some beautiful and stylish ladies! Chastity of The Curvy Girl's Guide to Style spoke at the event and there was also a fashion show and drawings for gift baskets and one of my girlfriends won one!

Me with the woman of the hour Chastity! We have a mutual admiration for full skirts.
(My outfit post coming later...)

Isn't she the cutest?!? Love these earrings? She's the designer! Check out earring designs from Ayo Design Studio HERE

I loved every.single.part of this display and Yvonne's designs!

She was such a cool chick, ultra cool artsy vibe and super nice!

Check out her Etsy shop HERE

 Isn't she talented?!?

I corralled a photo with this attendee because I loved her style. That hat! Phenomenal! I was even peeping out her hair underneath the hat. Cute! Natural short bronze hue underneath....Definitely not easing my itch to cut my hair.

Another Meet and Greet and a Do-It-Yourself Idea!

Me and my partner in crime, Reiko of GFS met up again last night and this time managed to snag a bonafide authoress to hang out with us! (Does anyone else remember Maya from 'Girlfriends' stating that she was an authoress time and time again?) We had a grand time with Chastity from The Curvy Girl's Guide to Style, a recent transplant from Georgia who just recently published a book of the same name. Chastity definitely knows her style game and her book is a must read for all the curvy girls out there. And for a mere $15 she gives style tips, shopping sites, and body type information to make curvy girl shopping easy breezy.

Don't the ladies look great?

In The Fashionista's Closet:

Linen Dress: Banana Republic
Cognac wedges: Steve Madden
White Bag: Prada
Green necklace set: One of the jewelry sets that I am selling for $30, stay tuned for close up photos and descriptions.

The dress that I'm wearing used to be white. I wanted it because I was obsessed with Will & Grace; well actually I was obsessed with Grace's wardrobe and I would got to nbc.com every week and it would show you what designers Grace wore in every episode. (I take this fashion thing very seriously.) So Grace wore this white dress in a cruise episode and it was from Banana Republic and was then regular price. So I waited until the dress was marked down and the salesguy told me when it would be marked down even more and I was able to get it for a fraction of what Grace paid and felt very smug that I had put one over on Grace although I'm pretty sure Grace got hers for free.

I had it for years but it was limited in its wearability, I couldn't wear it to a wedding because it was, well, white so I would wear it to different events and add a belt or flowers at the waist and in my hair but because it was white everyone remembered it. So last year I decided to dye it. I bought two bottles of yellow Rit dye, followed the washing machine instructions and voila, it's perfect!

It was much darker as it came out of the machine but I still like the lighter finished result. What about you, have you been able to give an article of clothing a "new look" with dye?
