Final Exam

Now as y'all know, I have had some peculiar meetings/dates in the past (see here, here, and here for reference.) So I have decided that I am going to start my own business. I'm gonna interview all potential dudes who want to date women and do an appraisal. I will take out all of the guesswork so you won't have to endure a date with a don't. Hmmm, catchy, maybe I can call it Don't Date A Don't?

That Time When....I Admitted Stuff

I'm still getting knocked down. But it's okay. This tee shirt helps. :-)

Y'all know that we are friends. right? So you know I have to tell y'all about all this stuff that's on my mind....

Struggle

"Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you;
you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for." -Bob Marley

I saw this quote during an episode of "Being Mary Jane" and promptly dismissed it. I wasn't sure if I agreed with the premise of thinking that people will hurt you and the idea of suffering for someone.

In The Fashionista's Closet: Lemons and Swag

My lemon pants are in honor of someone leaving a sour taste in my mouth. (But I love these pants!) Let's say I met a guy when I was leaving Target. Let's say the guy asked for my number and I gave it. We have never gone out because there has been something not quite right about him and I learned the lesson to go with my gut in situations like this. Remember Job Fair dude? Anway, Target Guy called and here are snippets of our conversations:

Earrings: Can't remember but I love them
Linen top: Thrifted
Pants: Thrifted (I <3 these pants)
Bracelets: Forever 21, Sam Moon
Bag: Prada
Shoes: Steven by Steve Madden

Him: So what do you do?
Me: I'm a teacher.
Him: Oh, ok. I'm the vice-president at a bank.
Me: *silence*

Him: Yeah, I told my cousin about you. I told him that you had swag.

Hold up, hold up, HOLD UP! What person over thirty years old is using the word swag seriously in a conversation? My students say swag and mean it. With them, everything is about somebody having swag, not having swag and being swaggerific. *Come on, son.*

He told me during one conversation that he really wanted to see me because he wore a suit to work and wanted me to see his swag.

AGAIN with the swag??? And if you are the vice-president of a bank, shouldn't you wearing a suit be an everyday kinda thing? I PRO-MISE you I was looking at my phone thinking, "I ain't about this life."

I believe that he may be a teller or works at Ace Check Cashing but he's no vice-president. Not that there's anything wrong with that but there's no need to lie.
He has asked me to send him a photo of myself. (I.did.not.do.that.) I think he's the type to show a photo around and tell dudes, "Yeah, that's me right there." And it is not.

But the kicker was yesterday. He sent me a text message after we got off the phone asking me what was my favorite shoe and shoe size.

*Drops the mic and walks away*

*Takes a bow.*

*You're welcome.*

Sir. You buying shoes for women? No flowers or candy, you coming up off monies to buy shoes??? You don't even know my last name. We've never even gone out! Do you think that this is an episode of Real Housewives or Basketball Wives?  But what I really want to know is WHO is this working on??? Next he's gonna wanna take me to Red Lobster with the cheddar biscuits. Game recognize game, sir. And you looking kinda unfamiliar right now. (See Boondocks clip below.)

This means that your game is wack, sir. He definitely needs to have a "Conversation with Chris!"

On a sidenote, I am rather pleased with other aspects of my personal life right now...

In The Fashionista's Closet: Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You

You know that feeling...when you first meet someone..you know that there's an attraction there..you flirt, they flirt back.....and you keep making eye contact? You know that there's something there...

"Looking them in the face" is what I like to call it when you're making that good-good eye contact.

That's how I feel about these shoes.....

They were calling me...I went to them...a match made in heaven. Shoe heaven, lol.

I keep looking at them....

I have been eyeing them for a while on the Steve Madden website and found them at T.J. Maxx in Houston thirty dollars cheaper! Whoop whoop! *Picture me dancing to a Big Daddy Kane song here.* Don't know Big Daddy Kane? Watch "Unsung" on TVOne (I'm so addicted to that series.)

Earrings: Body Central (I had never heard of this store but I saw a cashier at Walmart with similar earrings that I got from Aldo and she got them from there. They were about 5 bucks cheaper at Body Central.)
Sweater: H&M
Men's Shirt: Thrifted
Jeans: Ross
Shoes: Steve Madden Pammy

Still "looking them in the face"......

I'm trying to update more frequently so please bear with my lack of "sexy" backgrounds until I figure out how to leave work before dusk....

Make it a great day!

In The Fashionista's Closet: Yellow And Blue Make Green

I was doing some organizing of my closet and I laughed at the realization that I always gravitate towards these same primary colors. I adore yellow and green (think Sprite) and I like to add blue as an accent color. I used to have the hardest time finding anything green a couple of years ago, now it's everywhere. I have to stop myself from buying anything else green but sometimes I just can't help myself. (I will buy green shoes if I come across them though. Sorry.)
Bright colors make me happy, I'm definitely not afraid to throw some color in the mix.

Yellow with anything makes me a happy camper!
What's funny is that I wore this same sweater and a checked shirt for Nerd Day at school with khakis and tape on my glasses.

I found these earrings at the beauty supply store when I tagged along with a friend of mine. Who knew they had such cute earrings? Everyone but me I guess....
Scarf/belt: American Apparel
Men's Shirt: Thrifted
Men's Izod Sweater: Thrifted
Jeggings: Target
Boots: Juicy Couture

I watched Crazy, Stupid, Love over the weekend and it was the cutest movie! I enjoy Steve Carrell in general but that Ryan Gosselin was funny and yummy in that movie. Definitely made my weekend a little brighter.

It's time for new glasses and I snapped some pics while selecting frames and used the Picplz app for Android to play around with the photos.

I knew that  wanted some Ray Bans but I loved all of them!

I couldn't decide...

The tortoise are a safe bet but I think that I want something a little edgier...

These last two are the same frames....

What say you? Which frames are your fave?

In The Fashionista's Closet: Risky Business

This dress looks innocent enough, right? I've had it since January but finally brought it out  on a warm Sunday morning to go to church.

I didn't look at the weather report and today was a windy day here in Dallas. And the ruffles on the dress are not sewn to each other so I was afraid of exposing myself while walking from the parking lot into church.

But thankfully the shuttle was there to transport me to the front of the church and I didn't have to walk. I didn't want to chance it and rode the shuttle back to my car as well.

Right after church I stopped at the little corner store in the neighborhood to buy me some old school Now & Laters. (Now Laters is actually what I say.)

As I was walking into the store, the wind blew my dress up.

Not just a little bit either. It was like a tornado, every ruffle was going every which way and of course I screamed and was trying to hold the ruffles down down but by then everyone in and around the store was looking at me.

Dress: Vintage
Sash belt: Gap
Bracelets: Assorted
Clutch: Cannot remember (I think Aldo)
Shoes: Guess

I thank God for Spanx...

I loved loved my hair today, full and fluffy! Product Review hair post coming soon....
