Shameless whoring Part 2:

Available at Jokae's African American Books in Dallas
I know they have it because I've seen it there!

Zara gift card

Thank you and good night!

Shameless whoring for last minute gifts:

As much as I think that Jessica Simpson can't sing, the girl's shoe line is uber-fab! I saw these:

Jessica Simspon shoes on the net and secretly lusted for them but when I saw them in person, I was hooked. Of course they were out of my size in the store and online so I went to where all things that can't be found are found: Ebay.

There I found them, in my size AND ten bucks cheaper than in the store. I heart them but of course me never being satisfied, have decided that I must have these as well:

Jessica Simpson Parigi pump $75 @ Zappos

I see them in my dreams with a flirty dress. Will Santa bring them to me in an 8.5 or at the very least a Visa gift card? Stay tuned.......

Faux Real?

I have a friend who recently confessed that she wants a fur coat. huh? I envisioned Cruella de Ville wanting a coat out of dalmatians, complete with long cigarette and grey streak.

What about faux fur? I asked. No, she insists, I want the real thing.

You know we're in Texas and that it doesn't get that cold, right? And who wears real fur these days (besides Mary J. Blige and blue haired old ladies-who-lunch.) Besides, PETA isn't playing around these days, those people will kill to protect animals!

Just a jacket, she clarified. Oh, ok, I have been wanting a crop fur jacket ever since I saw one at an estate sale and didn't buy it a few years ago. I have been kicking myself ever since.

But I have found some faux fur options that she may like:

Charlotte Ronson Bolero

Gryphon The Pretender vest

Vintage 70's Faux Fur Vest M/L

mod faux fur cropped 70s vintage brown jacket

VTG 90's Faux Fur Slouchy Vest with Collar - XS-L

So let's save some minks, rabbits and chinchillas and buy FAUX!

Not A Bad Wrap

Cardigans have exploded onto the scene this season but I have been a fan for years. Not just for the grandma set, slouchy "boyfriend" or "grandpa" sweaters are casually chic with jeans and platforms and girly glam with dresses and boots. Think this look is too tame for you? Toughen it up with layers of necklaces or a wide belt.

Well Heeled

Dsquared Flash pump $592 @ Zappos

Designers now seem to want to squeeze every last ounce of showmanship (or show-offmanship) to put their stamp on shoes. While Christian Louboutin made his footwear easily recognizable with his signature red soles, designers have now resorted to adding lightning bolts, flowers and guns (yes, guns!) to add flavor to their heels. Celebs seem to be enthralled with these Dsquared lightning bolt pumps as seen on Rihanna and Beyonce and but I don't see these translating well into the real world unless your job involves a pole and/or a whip. Just kidding, they are actually tamer than the hideous Prada flower heeled mary janes that I abhor, or you can do a Victoria Beckham and not even wear a heel on your shoe. (See pic below.)

Sock it To'em!

Think that tights are a little too boring for your avant-garde taste? Or just want to try something new? Add socks to the mix and make your outfit say something!

long socks by jnetteb

I like the thought of these with boots but I am not sure how some of these will translate for work. I think it's a fun look though. What say you, would you rock this trend?
I saw this dress over the weekend at Tarzhay, tried it on and thought, "eh." After sleeping on it, I think it would be oh-so-cute when I spice it up a bit.(It's called VISION people!) And for only 20 bucks it's a steal.

Man of Style: Andre 3000 Unveils Clothing Line

Andre 3000 of Outkast has unveiled his menswear line at Barney's titled Benjamin Bixby.

His Fall 08/ Spring 09 collection consists of 70 pieces inspired by college football documentaries of the 1930’s. When asked about referencing the 1930's, he says, "You had rough guys who played football, but they were impeccably dressed. So now, if a guy wants to wash his face, they call him a metrosexual or whatever. So my thing is, cut all that out. People feel like just because you like to dress well ... that don't mean you're gay! I don't know where that came from! You know? It's clothes!"

Barney's creative director Simon Doonan (who has written a fab book titled Eccentric Glamour) and Andre 3000 at the launch of Benjamin Bixby.

I like this collection, I enjoy the preppy look with an updated twist and my BF wears bow ties so I think he would tag Andre's collection as wearable. You can mix and match the pieces with other items in your closet if you don't want to appear too costume-y.
