Wedge sandals are super comfy and still give you heel height without the pain. I say that's a win-win situation!

Things I've learned this week.....
1. I love the underdog. I have been doing some substitute teaching and I find myself drawn to the chubby kid with their shirt buttoned wrong and pizza stains on their pants, they are adorable to me. I'm not going to touch them, but they are cute nonetheless. AND this look only works for 3rd grade and under....
2. I laugh everyday, no matter what the circumstances.
3. I am a better public speaker than I thought I was. (In my mind, anyway.)

Mother Knows Best?
My mom sent me a care package a couple of weeks ago (although I am waaaaay past college age but I tend to think of care packages as proof that she cares) and inside my box was a link chain belt. Hmmmm, interesting, I thought....I do not, I repeat, NOT let my family shop for me, I am a very specific (i.e. picky) shopper and I like to change aspects of my look so no one knows what look I will gravitate to next. (Like now I am on the lookout for a denim pencil skirt to try a preppy, boho look. But...I digress.) Skeptically, I tried the belt on and I must say, was pleasantly surprised! Chic yet simple, I am looking to pair this with a tank dress, gladiator sandals and multiple bangles. I found a long and a shorter option at one of my fave shopping spots, Forever 21.
And for a mere $10.90 and 16.90, what's not to love?
American Apparel rib racerback dress $26; Gap garment dyed dress $39.50
Urban Outfitters Deena & Ozzy wavelength chain belt $16.99 (on sale!) Forever 21 assorted
chain belt $12.80
White House Black Market multi chain belt $68; Dillards Fossil chain belt $36
But a bigger question looms. Could mom really know what's best for me? Or is this an isolated fashionable incident? The jury is still out on that but thanks, mom!

Random acts of kindness
In these times of cutting back, here are a few things that cost you nothing:
1. Compliment someone. If you receive great service somewhere, let the manager know. We are quick to point out when things go wrong, let someone know when things are great as well. A kind word can really brighten someone's day.
2. Visit the website Wish Upon a Hero to see how you can grant someone's wish.
3. Collect the magazines that you have around the house and donate them to a local shelter.
4. Give your seldom worn shoes to people in need around the world at Soles 4 Souls.
5. If you need to buy something online, check iGive.com first. If you shop from one of the 700 retailers listed, a portion of your purchase price will be donated to a charity of your choice.
