In The Fashionista's Closet: Two (Outfit Posts) For The Price of One

I felt very "Three's Company" in this outfit (in a good way!) Does anyone want to go to the Regal Beagle?

Dress: Thrifted; Gold belt: Forever 21; Black pumps: Nine West

I'm seriously considering cutting my hair, something short and funky. I hardly ever wear my hair "out" it is always pulled up into a bun or a puff. I think that I need a new beginning, a re-awakening to jumpstart all of the big things coming my way!
My interpretation of the polka dot dress and animal print photo as seen in Street Style:
I think it needed a necklace or something....

or maybe short hair???
I sometimes feel at such a loss in the morning because I like to dress for how I "feel" but sometimes I think I reach for the same things in my closet (i.e. dresses) because it's easier instead of planning a kick *ss mix and match combo. Maybe that will be my style challenge next week, plan out my outfits for the week and see how that makes a difference. Will I leave earlier to go to work, will I feel more confident because I planned better? I say let's try it! Does anyone plan out their outfits days or weeks in advance?

In The Fashionista's Closet: Thrills and Chills

I know I owe you some pics so here are some recent thrift finds and some of my loot from Reiko from The Thrifting Challenge. Some of my things are at the dry cleaner so no pics until they come back.

Found this silk jacket at a new thrift store I found with a friend for $1.99. The pickings were slim on other items though.

Dress from Reiko (definitely a Willona from Good Times dress)

Silk top from Reiko, it has a tie at the neck. Found this animal print belt at my fave thrift store for $3

Ralph Lauren military style jacket $9

Another Willona dress from Reiko, it has small gold designs on it. Paired with my great thrifted belt.

I quit my second job today.

I got my first full check on Friday and found out that the commission process was not fully explained to me (not sure if it was deliberate) by both the district manager and manager and I wanted to cry. Working 25 to 30 hours a week on top of my full time job for what turned out to be minimum wage is not a good time in my book. But working 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday with no lunch and no breaks was the final straw. It had happened on two other occasions and I attributed it to poor time management but I realized that this seemed to be the norm instead of an exception. I told the manager that I wanted to make that my final day and she asked me to think about it and that she didn't want to lose me. But after taking into account my sore swollen right foot from being on my feet so much, the gas I was using to go to a job that I was being paid minimum wage for and not being able to see my friends or family because I was always working, I decided to go ahead and quit. I no longer want to be taken for granted and "suck it up," I want to set a standard for how I want to be treated both in my personal and professional life.

I know my worth and what I bring to the table so I won't let others diminish that.....
Annnnnndddd here's a little something to help you get your mojo working:

In The Fashionista's Closet: Too Tired To Think of a Title

I have been really busy lately and I am oh so tired, the strain of working two jobs is starting to wear me a little thin...
(Sorry for the expression in this pic, I'm not sure what I was thinking about...)

I got my FABULOUS thrift items from Reiko yesterday but I left my handbag at school with my camera in it so I couldn't take pics. STAY TUNED for those, I'm so excited!
So happy to nab this navy polka dot jacket at a thrift store for $2.99. I kept thinking I needed a navy and white striped shirt to pair with it and I already had one! It has a red bow on the shoulder but you can't see it.

Haven't worn jeans in quite a while, I love these wide legged pair from 7 For All Mankind.

For some reason I didn't wear these pink peep toe shoes from Nine West that much last year but now they are getting all kinds of use.

I'm so behind on my tv shows that I watch but I did get an opportunity to watch Glee last night and was blown away by Charice's rendition of "Listen" from Dreamgirls. You can watch it here.

In The Fashionista's Closet: Mad Men 2.0

I gave these pics a vintage feel to go with my outfit, I love how they turned out!

I got this dress at least four years ago at Buffalo Exchange, I think it was about 9 bucks. This is when they still used to carry quite a few vintage pieces, now, not so much. When I think of wearing a crinoline I think of this dress.

Last week in class I had three pee-pee accidents and two throw ups so I thought it can only go up from there.

This week I have a lice infestation.........

Is this par for the course? Am I being hazed? Are the kids secretly plotting against me because they want a teacher who hablas mucho espanol???

Where Are The 'Fits?

Sorry for the lack of posts, I have been a busy bee and had some computer issues last week so now we should be back to our regularly scheduled programming.

In the meantime, check out a post that God's Favorite Shoes did on our Thrifting Challenge. I should receive my goodies this week and I can't wait!

How much do I love these Rachel Roy heels? Not practical for anything in particular but who needs practical?
Check out Sarah Jessica Parker at Alexander McQueen's memorial service decked out in McQueen of course.

I adore this whole look, check out the bag....

Outfit posts back tomorrow, later gators!

An Open Letter to Rachel Zoe: I Die

Dear Rachel Zoe,

I admit I didn't like you when I heard of you because I thought you were making all of the stars you styled scarily skinny and that you lied about your age. But I realize now that Nicole Richie was just anorexic or on cocaine and I can't blame you for that. But even if you are lying about your age, I forgive you. I know women that do that so it's all good. Ever since I started watching The Rachel Zoe Project, I've figured out that there are some things I really love about you.

1. Your styling skills are superb. You have a knack for dressing women for their body type and not having them look too over the top. Whenever I watch awards shows and pick my favorites, nine times out of ten, you have styled them.

2. I adore your jackets and your jewelry and I generally like the way you dress.

However, you are eerily thin when the paps have caught you showing skin....

 3. You made the greatest decision ever by hiring Brad and getting rid of Taylor. I enjoy the show now, Brad seems to have come into his own without Taylor's negative vibes stinking up the joint. And I love his style...

So even though I (not so) secretly think Rodger is gay and is sleeping with your hairstylist Joey, please go ahead and have a baby so that he won't leave you for a similar-to-your-build 12 year old boy. Or at least stop talking about your work so much, I think he needs a break from the fashion monotony.
Rachel and Grown Up Justin Bieber (Rodger)

Ba-na-na-ly Yours,

Juanette

Happy Birthday GFS!

In honor of Reiko's birthday over at God's Favorite Shoes I thought I would post a few of my favorite outfit posts of hers:

Happy Birthday Reiko-Co-La!

Also, just wanted to throw a few updates in here:
1. My crying kid did not cry for the FIRST TIME today. It only took four weeks....

2. I had a kid attempt to forge my check mark for his conduct folder yesterday and attempted to forge his mom's signature showing that she saw it. He's five years old.

3. I had a kid wet herself twice, (did you hear me say TWICE?!) in one day.

They make me laugh out loud (like Reiko does) everyday....

In The Fashionista's Closet: Black y Rosado

Sorry about my background today, I had to take my pics in the classroom because I have to leave immediately after la escuela to go to my second trabajo today. No I didn't get one of the kids to take my pics, I set up my tripod while the kids were at lunch.

At my second job (I can't even call it part time because I feel as though I am working there just as much as I am at school) there is a guy that I'll call Reggie who is all things fabulous and funny. Reggie is irreverent and hilarious and will put you in your place whether you need it or not and everyone loves him, customers and co-workers alike. Reggie has these sayings at work that I'll call Reggie-isms that no one else can say or get away with.

Reggie peppers his conversations with "Lawd hammercy", "the ram in the bush"  and various things that the (Holy) Spirit told him (not to come to work that day and where the alterations person is) and when I asked him what church he attends he promptly replied "Bedside Baptist on Pillowrest Road."

And THAT is your Reggie-ism for today.

I used my bilingual-ness in my post today to show you how I talk to the ninos a la escuela. SPANGLISH!

Adios!

In The Fashionista's Closet: Garden Party

Today it rained cats and dogs but cleared up nicely by the time I left from work.

I am so spoiled, I visited a thrift store that I don't normally go to last week and they had a sequined jacket similiar to what I have been looking for but I didn't want to buy it because it was $12.97! That is waaaaayyyyy to expensive when I've seen similar jackets at my other thrift store (but not my size) for $3.99. I was so mad at them for pricing the jacket for that much (ha!) that I left the store, didn't even look around any more.Who do they think they are?

I would love to find some fun printed fluffy skirts to wear for Fall also, the hunt continues....

I used to be such a "mall shopper" and now I'm such a thrifter but I do need to venture to the mall to do "research" soon, see what's in stores and price things.

Maybe I can start a business taking people thrifting.....?!?
