The Chanel "Naked" bag"

I guess designers are hoping this clear thing catches on because now clear pvc and lucite are popping up on high end retailers' shelves. Karl Lagerfield created a sensation with his "Naked" bag at the Chanel shows and other designers have caught the transparency bug, from brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Manolo and Fendi. Some fashionistas who are willing to pay for the high end bags and shoes say that it's easier for them to find things in the totes because of the clear looks and it's also a symbol of having up to the minute trends in high style.

I spoke to one of the buyers in our handbag department and she thinks that this style is a flash in the pan and won't be around for long. I will not be participating in this trend, my sister used to work at Dillard's and they had to carry plastic purses to be "checked" before they left the store. This is what these reminds me of.

Mass retailer or one of a kind?

I saw this Old Navy dress in a commercial and I thought it was cute. I was in the vicinity of Old Navy this weekend so I went to take a look around and saw the dress "in person." I tried it on and loved the fit, the colors are more vivid and I enjoy the fact that it is long (longer than in the photo.) My mom said that it was "so me" but I am concerned that because it's so mass produced that I am going to see it all over the place. (And the fact that it is in the commercial doesn't help me.) I don't want to see myself coming and going all over the place, I can normally spot an item that someone is wearing from a major retailer. Do you have a problem with buying a distinctive item that is sold everywhere?

Star Style

Kerry Washington at the premier of "I Think I Love My Wife" in which she co-stars with Chris Rock. I love the yellow but I think it's a little over the top for a movie premier.



Michael Jackson is still a nut in his Roberto Cavalli suit and WHY is he still hanging out the kiddies?

Star Jones got a makeover along with her new gig as the host of a Court TV talk show. She looks very svelte and put together, I think the hair is a great improvement, and the glasses say "Take me seriously."

Wide leg jeans for petites?

I wanted to respond to "anonymous" who asked about finding wide leg jeans for the shorties out there. Well, anon wide leg jeans may not be the best denim decision if you are short, you want to lengthen your lines to make you appear taller. I would suggest straight leg jeans in a dark rinse to elongate your legs or jeans with a crease down the front can also trick the eye into making you look slimmer and taller.

I think that these could be flattering on a shorter person, it states that it's a wide leg but I don't think that it is as wide as the ones I show on my previous post. It also comes in a dark denim so it would also serve the purpose of making you look taller.

Sista - ly Love

I profiled this site back when I first started my blog and recently a friend of mine asked about finding some cute tees, so I revisited the site. I am in love with these Soul Sista shirts that they have added. This has great appeal to me because of my great circle of girlfriends that I have and also because I grew up with all girls. But you don't even have to know someone to give them a word of encouragement or a compliment. I think that it it so important to give positive messages to one another and build each other up so that we can pass the message on to our younger sistas who look up to us.

Found! Wide Leg denim

I was catching up on my Tivo'ed Oprah's this weekend and saw an interview that Oprah did with comedian Chris Rock, his wife, Malaak Compton Rock and their daughters, Zhara and Lola. I fell in love with the jeans that Malaak Compton Rock wore on the show and did a mad search for a similar pair of dark denim wide leg jeans. I was unable to find a picture of the pair that Malaak was wearing on the show but I did happen to find some great Paige jeans from Neiman Marcus. I can see these with a fitted white shirt, colorful heels or sandals and a great bag or clutch.
