In The Fashionista's Closet: Lessons Learned

Thing I've learned this week....

1. I was talking to a guy friend and found out that guys have lists of what they want in a woman and some of their "requirements" are stupid. It's not like "Must be emotionally mature" (that's on my list) but like "Gotta know how to weld." That's not on the person's list but what WAS on the list was equally as absurd. I'm thinking "THAT'S what you're taking a stand on?" I'm re-evaluating my list to add "Not date stupid guys." (That should have BEEN on the list, might have saved me some trouble.)

2. I have been making my new job my life. I wake up in the morning and I'm thinking, "Didn't I just do this??? What day is it? Didn't I just leave school???" Gotta get some "Me Time" in this weekend.

3. Attraction does not equal respect. Let me repeat that, more for myself than anyone else:
Attraction

Respect

Top: Zara
Skirt: Zara
Shoes: Steve Madden Luxe

4. Kids see what you show them. One of my students asked me today if I ever cry. I told him yes and he said he cannot imagine me crying because I am always smiling. I liked that.

Isn't it just awesome what kids think about us? My students think I am serious ALL the time, until the see my cracking up at something crazy! I follow the don't be nice until Christmas rule, until they catch me off guard- lol! I wish:) I am to silly for that, but I do put the hammer down!

LMAO @ "Gotta know how to WELD"... if that was the hypothetical requirement, I could cry laughing at what your friend REALLY said!!

Every time I even THINK sbout dating I think..."Am I who the person I want to be with WOULD WANT to be with?" Not saying I'm a bad person, but I've got some work to do.

Why would you ever believe attraction is equal to respect?

Please be sure to make time for yourself outside of the work day! I have a ritual at the end of each day that cues my brain that it's time to clock out! I also very rarely take work home, which means I have to manage my time well during the day, even with this crazy 7 period bell schedule this school is on. My philosophy is it's my job, but not my life!

@caramelnaps25 I've had a couple of students ask if I ever smile...until I start cutting up the second half of the year...right around spring break. LOL But they know I am still approachable and accommodating without being a pushover.

I love the fact that the student asked you that question. He is very aware of his surrounds and how sweet is it of him to notice that you are ALways Smiling!
