FLOTUS

"You are Michelle Obama. You are freaking Michelle Obama."

I kept whispering this to myself even as my stomach was tied up in knots. "This is stupid" I thought to myself, but kept saying the words over and over in my head. I even mouthed them for good measure, hoping the feeling would pass.

Now how did I end up telling myself that I am the First Lady of the United States?
I'll be honest with you.....
Have you known someone that made you nervous? Anxious to see them? Like butterflies in your stomach kind of feeling? Yeah....ummm, me neither. But if I did, I would say, "Juanette. You ain't nervous. You make people nervous. So what if you feel off balance, off kilter even. You're Juanette, damn it!"
But that didn't work.

If you have ever seen an interview with Michelle Obama, she always seems so calm, so poised and self-assured. And when they ask her questions about the president, she comes across as if she loves him but that she is kinda running the show. Even he says that he defers to her. My thoughts are that  she lets him run the free world but will still low-key curse him out if he's late for dinner.

So telling myself that I'm Michelle Obama settles that nervousness for me. I imagine Michelle being all like "Ummmm, he alright, I guess I can go out with him but he a little scrawny."
Michelle wasn't e'em worried about if Barack would call because she knew he would.
She Michelle Obama'd that whole situation.

Green jacket: (Seen above) Marshalls
White men's shirt: Thrifted
Sweater: Zara
Jeans: H&M
Boots: Franco Sarto
So there you have it. It's out there. I just keep telling myself that if anything is meant to happen that it'll happen the way that it's supposed to. I tell myself not to overthink it and just be cool.
And in the meantime, I'mma pretend that I'm Michelle Obama.
Because she doesn't care if you are the President of the United States, your ass better be home for dinner on time.....

Well that's definitely an interesting way to give oneself a great confidence boost in those types of situations. She does always seem cool, calm and collected no matter who she's interviewing with! I absolutely love how well you put that outfit together, you are ALWAYS cute! I am Petite (5ft and small frame) I'm in need of some serious style inspiration for my stature, know any petite fashion bloggers?

I'm on this thing where I just put it out there. I'm tired of being scared and if it's meant to happen, it will. If not, I enjoyed the ride. Might not relate to your situation, but that's my pep-talk. And you know what, I usually kill it!.
I.Love.This.Look!
