The Following

Disclaimer: These photos are from Spring Break week. It's still cold in the D....

I don't talk about work a lot on my blog and that is by design. One, because I'm a little leery about someone at work finding my blog and knowing about all of my ratchet tendencies, but apparently it ain't that hard to find my blog since people are Googling me all willy nilly so maybe they already know about my blog at work. Hey people that Google me! *waves*

And two because I want to focus on positive things and this school year, life for me ain't always been no crystal stair.
Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy teaching and my students do well, I feel a great responsibility for making sure that my students also learn life lessons as well as Reading and Language Arts. We spend time talking about doing the right thing even when no one is watching. I try to empower them with decision making and we decide as a class on how we want to establish rules and procedures. For some things.
I ain't no sucka.

But I believe that it all starts at the top, the biggest challenge of being a leader is leading instead of managing. Being in charge of someone makes you a boss. Motivating people to want to work for you is what makes you a leader.
I believe in treating people with kindness and respect, not trying to instill fear to make them "act right." It is the same concept with the kids, you have to balance discipline with nurturing and if they are not on board then you've lost them.

But adults and children are not to be treated the same....I'm just saying.

Teaching is the hardest job I've ever had. It is more than just teaching, there's paperwork and meetings, politics and schmoozing. I'm not a schmoozer and I don't play one on tv, but I do believe in being helpful and sharing what you know. And through it all, I choose to be grateful.

Lol thank you Missy. This is not my hair, it is a sew in using Outre Baby Soft Wave hair, my hair was left out at the top and on the sides to blend. I'm growing my hair out from a haircut. I'm not offended at all!

I'm not a schmoozer either. The concept, and the act itself is very weird to me. I watch it happen all the time in corporate settings and I am always amazed by "the dance" that takes place.

You look so cute! I wish I could wear shorts right about now. It's still snowing here in Minnesota! Ugh!

P.S. I would want to be in your class!! I'm just sayin! Ha!

I agree with your views on effective leadership. I mean you can get people to comply or cooperate...you choose. I may be entering into a realm where I need to put up or shut up...we'll see. Your outfit is so cute. I love your choice in sandal and what to find some peanut butter multipurpose shoes like that!

That hair...those legs. Girl WERK!! I'm not a schmoozer either but I now to those who take on teaching it's a job where the thank yous don't come for years if at all. I still think back some amazing teachers that have NO clue what they meant to me. Keep up the good work
