Stacy Beverly is the mastermind stylist behind the CW's show "Girlfriends." A former model who graduated from L.A.'s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Stacy was almost overlooked for the job of costume designer because she wasn't a part of Hollywood's major costume unions. Nevertheless, she wowed "Girlfriends" creater Mara Brock Akil with her artistic vision for each of the characters and was hired on the spot. Stacy combines vintage finds with couture to outfit the ladies with only a fraction of the budget of "Sex and the City" but still makes sure that our favorite Girlfriends are always up to par.
This is great style philosophy to meld high and low end items in order to create a fun and funky look. Which girlfriend are you, Lynn, Mya, Toni or Joan? (Even though Toni is no longer on the show, she still gets props.) I definitely look to Joan's style for chic cues.

I love your site. I was so glad to see the article on Stacy Beverly. She is a phenomenal coustoume designer. I love how she uses a lot of Birkin handbags on the show and love the way she dresses Joan's character.
Thanks for highlighting this young lady. Usually all you hear about is the fab Patricia Field. This lady is doing it! My favorite stylish girlfriend is Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross).
Wow. Stacy Beverly! We graduated from the same Design School (FIDM in L. A.!)
I may have spoken with her on the phone! OMG! I'm excited! It is NEVER beneath me to dial up a show's wardrobe department (I'm probably on a first name basis w/ Y&R's wardrobe department) to find out where I can find a particular piece that was featured on their show. I spoke to a "Stacy" when I called about a sweater Tracee or "Joan" wore on an episode. She couldn't have been more accommodating to me on the phone...
Wow! Thanks Jnette for that info, now I'm gonna have to look her up, since we're Alumni and all!
chanel, you have taught me something! i never knew you could call a wardrobe dept. and ask about clothing from the show! hope you can reconnect w/stacy, small world, huh?
Stacy Beverly has a magic touch! I love the stylish wardrobe AND accessories the Girlfriends cast uses. I miss her touch on All of Us, the wardrobe hasn't been the same but continue doing what you do!
Stacy inspired me to get into costuming! I love the wardrobe of all the girls and they all fit the girls personalities so well. Like MYa is ghetto fabulous, Toni is bougie, Lynn is weird and Joan is siddity (she is my fave). Do yall miss Toni? SHe was funny...
My wife is shaped like Joan but her pants do not fit as well as Joan's. Which designer makes clothes for women shaped like Joan ?
well your wife seems to have the same problem as a lot of us, small waist with a round, ahem derriere. She definitely needs to get her pants tailored in the waist, that makes a huge difference. She may want to check out Joe's Jeans Honey fit, 7 for all Mankind for jeans, Victoria's Secret Marissa fit pants and A line or pencil skirts look best on this figure. Just make sure the pencil skirt isn't too clingy. Hope this helps!
I love Stacy Beverly style on The Game. I noticed some uniqueness with the outfits selected for the girls. Any idea where I can find the tracksuit Wendy Raquel Robinson was wearing on the show, "When the Chickens Come Home To Roost"? She was wearing a neutral color tracksuit with parachute arms.
I would love to know whats the name of who made the asymmetrical leather coat Joan wore in some of the episodes
Hi, I absolutely love Melanie's dress in the game episode where she find out that Derwin cheated on her. She was wearing a deep copper crinkled dress. I would love to know where I can find that dress at. My birthday is in a couple of days, and I would love to wear it!!!
I want to know where I can find the shirt that janay had on in the episode hen she had the altercation over lunch with melanie about taking DJ to disney land.
